What is the Best Yoga workout for Beginners?

Yoga is for everyone, and absolutely anyone can practice yoga. Finding the best Yoga workout for Beginners depends on what you want from yoga. Some people do it to keep fit, and some want to relieve back, joint pain, injuries, or stress. Others want to feel the joy and energy provided by yoga.

Yoga can help you achieve all of this and a lot more.

Working on yourself through yoga will free you from limiting beliefs and help you find your balance.

What is the Easiest Yoga for Beginners?

There are so many types of yoga that seem confusing to someone new at yoga, and it can easily happen to get lost and give up at the very beginning. That is why it is important, as your first step, to choose the type of yoga that suits you best.

We recommend that you, as a beginner, start either with Hatha or Restorative yoga.

Hatha Yoga

what is the best yoga workout for beginners

Hatha Yoga is the most common type of yoga beginners start with because it balances physical, mental, and spiritual strength through a series of physical poses, energy techniques, cleansing, breathing, and meditation techniques.

This type of yoga is a good starting point for beginners because it teaches the philosophy of yoga as well as body mechanics and the proper use of muscles in different poses. Hatha yoga is excellent for beginners looking for less to moderately demanding physical and mental challenges and for anyone who wants to become more balanced, healthy, and happy.

Restorative Yoga

Restorative Yoga is an anti-stress practice and that makes it great for anyone, but especially for beginners who seek passive stretching. Anyone can do restorative yoga because it aims to provide deep relaxation through a longer stay in the poses.

Restorative yoga stands out for its power to calm us and, at the same time, energize us. It is best for those who want intense relaxation and calming of the mind.

How and When to Practice Yoga

Yoga should be practiced with full consciousness. You try to stay mentally open to new discoveries while performing the pose. Try to develop a sense of children’s curiosity in yourself. It is best if you practice yoga at the same time of the day for the simple reason of getting your body used to “expect” yoga and the benefits that come from it at a certain time of day.

What is the Best Yoga workout for Beginners?

These yoga exercises for beginners are simple and effective, and if you are thinking about where to start, these few poses are perfect for starters.

Reclining Bound Angle Pose (Supta Baddha Konasana)

Supta Baddha Konasana

Simply lie on your back, your feet touching, your knees bent and lowered on both sides, creating a diamond shape. By placing your palm on your heart and abdomen, you will feel your breath slow down.

By breathing deeper in this position, the nervous system will activate the return of the brain and body to a state of rest.

Extended Puppy Pose (Anahatasana)

Try Anahatasana by getting up on your arms and knees, then moving forward to feel a deep stretch in your upper back and shoulders and while holding your hips above your knees, apply body pressure to the ground.

During a period filled with stress, this way, you allow your heart to merge with the ground, and feel calm as you take a deep breath with your torso.

Plank (Phalakasana)

Most people know the plank. The Plank pose teaches us how to balance the arms while using the whole body as support.

Lean your feet and hands on the floor, then lift yourself on your toes until you take a parallel position with the floor, and your body is in a perfectly straight line. Pull your shoulders down and as far away from your ears as possible and inhale between 5 to 8 times.

Bridge (Ardha Setubandhasana)

Ardha Setubandhasana

Lie on your back, bend your knees, and set your feet hip-width apart. Press your heels against the floor and lift your buttocks off the same. Interlace your fingers and press your fists under the floor below you while opening your chest even more.

Hold 8-10 breaths, then lower your hips and do two more sets.

  1. I love your topic and I am mind setting to start.

Basically, I found the topic very suitable for me.

I am planning to print those best 4 poses that you showed on this post.

They will be a good start for me. Hopefully, I can do the plank. The three others seems doable.

I want to start tomorrow. I am bookmarking your site to find out if I can develop to do more poses. I have  a little impairment on the left side muscles by the way. But I think I can do some basic post for exercise and sleep improvement.

    • Happy to hear you loved the post 🙂 The poses should be pretty easy. Something important to keep in mind is that you shouldn’t try to do them perfectly from the get-go. Some tips for the plank: If you find it very difficult, use a knee for a bit. The other thing is that you can do it as it should – but start with a short time and increase it as you get more comfortable. Let me know how you go!
